Social media needs to be managed properly in every athletes life, because distractions in the outside world can take a toll on somebody whether they show emotion publicly or not. Facebook and Instagram are two great resources to have if managed right, and yes people are going to talk about you but that is part of the world, there will ALWAYS be people that will cheer you on, but forget who you are when you hit rock bottom which is a trend in today’s society that effects teens greatly due to “Fake” friends. We have all been there athletes or not. I remember in High school I would have a game where I threw for 350 plus yards and 5 tds, then the next week I threw for 250 and 2 tds against the #15 team in the country and beating them, yet people were saying I couldn’t succeed in college playing, well I proved them wrong the next year at MGCCC. Teens should use social media, but should also understand the positives and negatives of having an account.
